Preparing your child for their first Dental Visit
Your child’s first dental visit with the Paediatric Dentist should be an enjoyable, pleasant, and safe visit.
To prepare for this initial visit let your child know the dentist will ask the parent some questions and count the teeth. Try to stay away from words that conjure pain and distress, such as pain, needle, injection, pinch, ‘hurt just a little’ etc.
The examination period of the initial appointment is usually short and quite easy to perform. Please let your child know that the initial visit will be a short and very pleasant experience. Once the initial examination part is over, the Paediatric Dentist will then speak with the parents and formulate a treatment plan.
